A Note From Kate:

Greetings!

My name is Kate Doe and I’m the new Massachusetts Promise Fellow serving at RE-CREATION! For those unfamiliar, Mass Promise is an AmeriCorps program housed at Northeastern University, placing members at service sites through out the state of Massachusetts.

As part of my year of service, I’ll be working with and advising the Youth Leadership Council. This is a group of high school students interested in leadership and service learning. My goal is to guide them through the process of completing a Youth Master Plan for the city of Fall River. Additionally, I’m beginning to implement our Promise Leaders Of Tomorrow program at the middle schools.

I’m really excited about living in and serving the Fall River community. I grew up in Philadelphia with a ton of support from my family, educators, and non-profit programs. It made a huge impact on my educational experience and the decision to continue to achieve my goals. So, when I checked out all the amazing offerings of Fall River leadership, I was looking for a place with similar ideals. When I checked out some of the awesome partnerships going on between Fall River Public Schools, City of Fall River, and RE-CREATION, I knew this was just the place for me. The icing on the cake? Fall River has a premier gluten free bakery! As someone living with celiac disease, this is a dream come true!

I’m looking forward to working with the youth of Fall River and I can’t wait to discover even more about this amazing community!
